Pinkfong is the main character and mascot of the YouTube channel, Pinkfong.

Appearance

Pinkfong is a young fox cub. He has pink fur, magenta eyes, and wears a small golden crown on his head. He wears a gold star necklace named Pio that holds magical powers. It is one of the main focuses of the show Pinkfong Wonderstar.

Magic

By saying the phrase, "Hoi Poi, Pinkfong!", Pinkfong can use Pio to turn anything into what he desires, for example:

Pinkfong uses Pio to turn Hogi's telescope into a new one, turn him into a balloon, a star, and a detective.

Personality

Pinkfong is a young cheerful fox, often shown singing in most of his videos. According to the official website and the episode Welcome to Wonderville, he is described to be "the prince of Staria with boundless curiosity", who loves music to the point nothing else matters to him.

There are many examples of him fleshing out in the series:

In Welcome to Wonderville, Pinkfong was very energetic and childish while he was playing with Hogi's toys. He broke his telescope but managed to fix his mistakes using Pio.

When Jojo could not sleep because of a strange noise in Good Night, Jojo, him and Hogi were frightened by this horrific sound while Pinkfong was not. This shows a mark of bravery.

Also in Good Night, Jojo, Pinkfong did not think of any negative thoughts and went inside Barri's cave without cynicism or fear. This shows a mark of determination, and that he would not give up on his friends. In the same episode, Pinkfong said to Jojo, "Do you have any neighbors that like to drop giant weights?". This line could suggest that Pinkfong is trying to comfort Jojo by being humorous, and to take the noise off his head.

In A True Detective, during part 2 of the challenge, after Pinkfong fails the first time, Bili explains the rules as Pinkfong then says "You're telling us this now?" This is a sign of his maturity, even more with his line "What in the world does a maze have to do with being an ace detective?"

In Poetry In Motion, Pinkfong used his sarcastic tone after Hogi points out the obvious. Although it is unusual for a child-like character, it is also a sign of his maturity.

In Boogie Woogie Fun, Pinkfong was defensive of the house when he thought that Hogi was an intruder.

In the episode The Mysterious Holes, it is shown that Pio can get tired and lose powers for a small amount of time.

Pinkfong has shown his clumsy side in We are Wonderstar when he destroyed Hogi's detective office blueprint accidentally. Pinkfong is sometimes irascible when Hogi yelled at him for accidentally breaking his blueprint with his superhero glove first, to which he turned embarrassed and yelled back: "Fine! Good luck being on your own!".

Lastly, in We'll Always Be Friends, He has been dreaming about his friends not thinking of him as a real friend and left off, causing his cube-cubes to disappear. Hogi tells him to ask everyone about them being real friends, but he wasn't ready until later. But everyone, including his cube-cubes, are gone except for an invitation to the mini-theater. Hogi has set up a movie/performance for Pinkfong, having all of his friends remind him how they're always friends forever.

History

Creation

Pinkfong was formerly the mascot of "SSBOOKS/SMARTBOOKS," whose parent company is "SAMSUNG PUBLISHING CO (삼성출판사)". Pinkfong then became the mascot of their parent company, and then their company of the same name.

Name

Before the name of "Pinkfong (핑크퐁)" came around, he had many names. Pinkfong's name used to be "kick-kick (킥킥)", then it changed to "bebifong (베비퐁)" and "Fong (퐁)" again.

Pinkfong's name resembles a pink fox and a phone.

Trivia

• Pinkfong is 10 years old according to a birthday compilation video. However, the video is currently 3 years old, so that may mean that Pinkfong is 13 years old right now.
• Pinkfong has some similarities with other more popular characters, including:

1. Kirby, for being pink and ride on a star while living in a planet shaped like a star.
2. Miles "Tails" Prower, for being a fox with a hedgehog as a best friend and sharing the same voice actor.
3. Mickey Mouse, for having magic words that seems similar on the surface ("Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse" and "Hoi Poi Pinkfong")
